Hey Welcome to my page!!Thanks! I'm excited to meet you :)
How are you today?I'm great! Just relaxing after last night's show!
How did you get into modeling?I randomly did a little in college when a magazine I was interning for made me model for an ad they were putting together, and then didn't do any again until a few years ago! A photographer friend of mine asked me to participate in a shoot she was doing, and I realized how much I loved it and pursued it from there!
how do you feel about today's models?I really like how multi-faceted the modeling community has become, and now you see so many different types of models! I love that there are so many different beautiful women out there that have the confidence to go out and find their modeling niche!
You are with the black widow burlesque and I'm a huge fan of burlesque,I've been wanting to do it but don't know where to start. Do you have any advice for girls that want to do it and how to get started? The best place to start is by just doing it! Check out some videos on youtube, and try putting together your own routine! Rehearse rehearse rehearse! Then you can look around and see if there are any troupes in your area that are auditioning, or start your own! The most important part is confidence, because if you're having fun then the audience will too!
Do you have a secret you would like to share?Hrmm......I'm a pretty mega sci-fi geek. Whether it be literature or television, I can't get enough of it! I've even been re-watching all of the old Highlander series on Hulu!
What are your top 5 bands?Aww! This is always such a hard question for me because I feel like it totally changes depending on my mood! But I'll try anyway :) Tenacious D, Ween, Kidney Thieves, NIN, Queen...ok! I think that's a good representation!!!!
You and I are both heavy set pinup models on pinup kittens.Sometime I have trouble finding work and sites to model for due to the fact I don't look like those really skinny models.its nice seeing other plus size pinups and alternative models on sites,it shows that parts of the industry is not comsume by thin is "beautiful".There are times when I was told that I couldn't be a model due to the fact I'm not skinny or fit. What would you like to say to women who thinks they can't be a model due to the fact they don't like fashion models and don't feel beautiful about themselves?**WARNING** Getting on my soapbox!!!This question always makes me giggle a little because I think it says more about other people than me and my experience! I've never really had a problem getting into modeling because I go forth with confidence! I don't look at myself as 'heavyset' or 'plus size,' especially in the pinup world! Many of the original punups such as Marilyn Monroe were what today would call 'plus-size!' I feel very proportionate and think that I just represent a different bodytype. I don't promote myself as a plus-sized model, and avoid being promoted as such because I think it implies that my body type is overweight or unhealthy. I in fact work out daily, am stronger than most of my friends, and look damn fine in my skivvies!!! I am currently a corset model for a local store, www.secretoktober.com, as well as the spokesmodel for Emily Clay corsets, and neither of these are because of or in spite of my size! That being said, I do think it's important as a model to find your niche. Obviously I'm not going to go and pop up on a traditional high fashion runway; I work towards what fits my bodytype, and if I don't find room in a niche I like, I create a new one! Never be afraid to go to a photographer with your own concepts and ideas! Your attitude is always the most important part of modeling! I will also say that it bothers me when people villify thin models or say they're not real women. We're ALL real women! I think the most important part is for everyone to embrace the diverse bodies out there, and always have confidence in your own!*** Soapbox off***
Is there other activites you do besides modeling and burlesque? My 'dayjob' is as a makeup and hair artist! I do everything from film and television to photographic and stage work! You can check out my website at www.wendymichellesanders.com
Thank you for letting me interview you. Before we end this interview,is there something you would like to say or promote?Hmmm...think I just did above!
